Every year, the Native American Bar Association of Washington, D.C. organizes a brownbag lunch series for summer interns working in the field of Indian law and policy.
Brownbag lunch hosts include government agencies, law firms, and non-profit organizations. The lunch series provides an opportunity for interns to learn about the work of the many organizations involved in Indian law and policy in DC as well as network with fellow interns and potential employers.

NABA-DC will hold a luncheon on Friday, October 21, 2016 to discuss Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) litigation. Speakers will address recent developments, particularly focusing on equal protection challenges to ICWA. Lunch will be provided.
Speakers will include Sam Daughety, attorney at Dentons, and Kaitlyn Klass, attorney at Hobbs Straus Dean & Walker. Time for questions, answers, and discussion will follow.
The luncheon is open to the first 25 NABA-DC members who RSVP. You must be a current member to attend. We will keep a waiting list if we go over the 25-member limit. Out of courtesy, we ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice if you must cancel.

NABA-DC has organized a tour of the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) Archives for November 17th from 9:30am to 11:45am. The tour will be followed by an optional lunch in the NMAI cafeteria provided by NMAI and NABA-DC. This is a great opportunity to see firsthand NMAI’s large collection, learn about NMAI’s repatriation policy, make connections in the Archives for future visits, and visit with fellow NABA-DC members.
**You must be a current NABA-DC member to attend.** This event will be open to the first 20 NABA-DC members who RSVP. We will keep a waiting list if we go over the 20 member limit. Out of courtesy, we ask that you give us 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel so that we can let those on the waiting list know ASAP.

When: Thursday, November 17th
Time: 9:30am to 11:45am (with time on either end for transportation and an optional lunch)
Where: NMAI Cultural Resources Center at 4220 Silver Hill Road in Suitland, Maryland

Voting: In order to vote in the Governing Board election, a person must be a member in good standing of NABA-DC. Members may vote for Governing Board positions by proxy. A member wishing to vote by proxy must give the Secretary written notice at least 24 hours before the election by sending an email to: nabadc_community@nabadc.com. The notice shall state good cause for the member’s absence and the name of the person to whom the proxy is given. Good cause shall be defined on a case-by-case basis and at the discretion of the Secretary.
