Governing Board Elections: To be eligible to hold a position on the governing board, a person must be a NABA-DC member in good standing (meaning dues have been paid) and be nominated for the position at the annual meeting. Members may self-nominate.
The positions open for election are: President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, Bar Liaison, and Members-at-Large. Members-at-Large oversee the Intern lunch, Mentorship, Social, and Community Outreach Committees. The number of Members-at-Large is determined at the annual meeting. For more information regarding the responsibilities of these positions, you can review NABA-DC’s Bylaws here.

A member wishing to vote by proxy must give the Secretary written notice at least 24 hours before the election by sending an email to: nabadc_community@nabadc.com. The notice shall state good cause for the member’s absence and the name of the person to whom the proxy is given.
Membership: If you have not yet renewed your NABA-DC membership for 2018, it can be done online at: https://nabadc.com/how-to-join/. Additionally, dues can be paid at the annual meeting.

NABA-DC has reserved a group visit to the imagiNATIONS Activity Center from 1:30pm to 2pm. Facilitators will be teaching the older kids string games, and younger kids can play in the area. Kids wanting to participate in string games will need a ticket. Tickets are limited, so please let us know ASAP if you no longer plan to use your ticket.
NMAI is also holding an event entitled “Winter Blast: A Family Weekend of Native Games” in the main area of the museum from 10am until 5:30pm. After our group visit to the imagiNATIONS Activity Center, we can check this event out, too.
Last, NMAI’s new exhibit entitled “Americans” is set to open on January 18th. The exhibit highlights the ways in which American Indians have been part of the nation’s identity since before the country began.
We hope you can make it! If you RSVP using the link in this message, we will reach out to you closer to the event date with additional information.
Please join NABA-DC on May 3, 2023 from 12-1pm ET for a case debrief on Lac Du Flambeau v. Coughlin. Julius Chen from Akin Gump, who is part of the Tribe’s legal team and participated in drafting the brief for the Tribe, will be speaking and Morgan Saunders from NARF will be moderating.
